Project Run and Play Week 2...

Don't fret, you haven't missed my week 1 entry, it is still under construction but Week 2 is finished :o)

The theme for Week 2 was Spring Break Challenge.  Here is Australia we don't really have Spring Break the same as in the US but we do of course go on holidays, so my inspiration for my little collection was the always beautiful and always breath taking Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands.

The beautiful white sand of White Haven beach, the aqua blue of the water and the beautiful sunsets were all the inspiration for this collection.  Given that here in Queensland we are coming into Autumn and winter I wanted something for my daughter that could do both seasons and take her form day into night.

For the dress I used the awesome (and free) Izzy Top from climbing the willow and just extended the length to make a dress.  The beautiful coral and aqua strips were each 3 1/2 inches wide and were made before the pattern was cut.  I was worried during construction that the stripes might be a bit much but once I added the white, I was confident.  I just love how its come together.

As for the jumper I used the Classic Sweatshirt pattern from peek-a-boo and shorted it.  The pattern itself has a plain front but I wanted some more detail.  I cut the pattern piece and then did some free hand curves, crossed my fingers and cut the fabric.  I didn't want the jumper to take away from the overall style of the dress so I made it short enough that it didn't cover too much of the stripes.  Again I was so happy with the result.

I went a little crazy with the photos of Maddie playing in the dress and jumper.  I didn't get to take any without the jumper as the weather was starting to change.  I hope you like it.
